Gidday Mike

Great to read your blog. I have starting riding again after a break of 20 odd years and am loving it. I purchased an old (1988) Kawasaki GT550 (KZ550 in the state I think) shaftie. Good fun but am now thinking of buying the GSX650F and stumbled across your blog on the way.

Keep it up - love the ride reports, makes me want to get on the bike and go...

Hi Walt,

That's a great question, and one I've been asking the past couple of years, as the Deauville is a bike I'd love to see sold here.

The consensus that others seem to have come to is that it could be imported into the U.S. at a potentially considerable cost. But registering it might be the biggest hurdle depending on the rules your state has for registering gray-market bikes.

As far as it ever appearing here, it seems unlikely I'm afraid.

I'm riding an old GL-650 Silverwing and I see the continuity of work that Honda put into the Deauville model, much based on the V-twin, 650cc, 3-valve, now 680 and 4-valve engine. Can it be imported into the U.S.? Pricey for a 700 size tourer, but with ABS and fuel-injection, probably right for its market. What can a person do to find out if it is in our future? Best regards, Walt Bridge, K.C. Mo.

Hi Rob,

Congrats on your purchase! I hope you enjoy many happy (s)miles on your new bike.

I chose gloss silver for the color and have been very glad that I did.

Let me know if there is anything else you need. I'm happy to help!
