Hello John!

I think I did post some pics under "Ready to Tour". It might have been at www.sport-touring.net.

Yes, that is Givi luggage - the V35's. Suzuki sells their own branded set, but they are essentially the same luggage.

It wasn't cheap - about $800US. But the performance is first rate, and it looks like it was designed specifically for this bike.

My previous bike was a Harley (a Sportster). Here in the US, they held a very high resale value for a long time. That is starting to change as the economy tumbles. The result is that there are currently a ton of bikes on the market. (People buy motorcycles here more as toys then as regular transportation.) So they are the first thing to usually go when trouble hits.

That being said, Suzuki's hold their value fairly well. This is a new model and I really don't know how the long-term value will hold up, but so far, it doesn't look too bad.

Hope that helps! :)

Hi Mike. Just the sort of detail I was looking for. (Did you post pics of your bike somewhere else called "ready to tour?) I'm seriously thinking of getting one of these machines because I love touring, and here in South Africa we have the roads to do it.
I have two questions, if you don't mind. Firstly that luggage looks great and think it might be Givi? How does it perform, and how is it price-wise?
Oops, I reckon this is question three then...I was also looking at Harleys which are very expensive here, but do retain a high resale value. How does the resale on a Suzuki go, not that I'm thinking of selling it before I've even bought it!
Nicely written article.
Best wishes from sunny Durban, John
